Pulp Fiction 2

4 Ιουλίου, 2020

When Pulp Fiction first came out, I was on a difficult business trip in London.  I still remember the elevator kind of music on the (original – but bankrupt) Cyprus Airways plane which was Marios Tokas instrumental version of “Θάλασσες».

I guess they do not play that no more.

I was alone and worried and confused at the time. I was staying at a hotel near Marble Arch. When the business day was over, I thought of going out to see a movie. The billboards were pretty sure about what I had to choose.

I was comfortably seated in a large theatre, not many people there, and “Pulp Fiction” started. Fast, furious, good music, too much blood, I think at the time I was more into romantic French titles with lots of natural, naked scenes.

So, what was left in my memory since then was mainly violence.

On a (very) warm evening, 26 years later, we thought to watch a family movie.

Bad luck. It was unavailable in our region (Oh! The limits of modern technology!)

After some give and take, K1 and K2 decided to go their own way, order their favorite Chinese food, and the wiser members of the family, decided to go on a trip down on memory lane.

Well, the film was much more than just violence. I think I enjoyed and appreciated it more this time round at Strovolos compared to that huge theatre in Marble Arch so many years before.

I wanted to look kind when it was all over – 150 minutes later, and I asked K1 and K2: are you ok? Do you need something?

Yes, they did.

And they sent me looking for morning coffee cookies (with chocolate) and Oreo Ice Cream at the local kiosk.

Oh well!

Life!
